We will be hosting an invitation-only seminar on the ‘Professionalisation of the Security Sector’ and the rewards of training. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session providing security practitioners with an opportunity to gain expert career guidance. The event takes place on Monday 25 March at the Masa Square Hotel in Gaborone, Botswana with doors opening from 5.30 pm.
The event is open to all security practitioners who pre-register to attend, with a large delegation of PerpetuityARC Training alumni. Attendees will learn about the range of classroom and online training available, from short bite-size courses that support Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through to ASIS International CPP and PSP courses as well as the prestigious MSc in International Security and Risk Management.
Angus Darroch-Warren CSyP FSyI, a director of the Linx International Group, will present the seminar and host the Q&A session. He informed Risk Xtra: “A commitment to training and development is vital for security practitioners in order that they can be respected and rewarded for their professionalism. PerpetuityARC Training has considerable experience of delivering training and consulting services across the African continent and this event is an excellent opportunity for us to learn what new security programmes we can develop specifically to support security practitioners throughout Africa.”
The global impetus to professionalise the security sector was apparent when the Linx International Group published the results of some research in late 2017. The survey of 1,000 security practitioners (including many from Africa) revealed CPD, certification and personal development as the main drivers for training, with respondents also stating the importance of training to them as an individual and the organisation, as well as the positive impact that recognised training qualifications can exert on respective industries.
